Position Overview
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and measurements using drawings, photos, videos, and field documentation.
- Utilize scaling techniques, historical data, and logical estimating methods when dimensions or information are incomplete.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Validate estimate accuracy through internal review and quality-control processes.
- Maintain organized estimating files, calculations, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
Pricing Strategy & Vendor Coordination
- Source and validate labor, material, and subcontractor pricing through vendor outreach, market research, historical data, and industry resources.
- Solicit, review, compare, and level subcontractor proposals.
- Evaluate pricing for completeness, accuracy, and scope alignment.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project requirements and quality standards.
- Monitor market conditions and pricing trends that may impact project budgets.
Scope Development & Proposal Preparation
- Prepare detailed, client-ready scopes of work and proposal content.
- Develop assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, and clarifications that improve estimate accuracy.
- Customize proposal templates to align with specific project requirements.
- Ensure estimates accurately reflect project scope, sequencing, and construction requirements.
- Support change-order pricing and proposal revisions as needed.
Project Manager Collaboration & Operational Support
- Partner closely with Project Managers to gather missing information, validate assumptions, and improve estimate quality.
- Communicate proactively with field teams to understand project conditions, constraints, and execution requirements.
- Participate in scope reviews, estimate reviews, and project handoff discussions when required.
- Support Project Managers during project execution by answering estimate-related questions and assisting with pricing clarifications.
- Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, Project Managers, and internal stakeholders.
Risk Management & Quality Assurance
- Identify estimating risks related to scope, pricing, labor productivity, logistics, constructability, and project execution.
- Review project documentation for discrepancies, omissions, and inconsistencies.
- Perform final quality-control reviews before estimate submission.
- Escalate concerns, assumptions, and potential budget impacts proactively.
- Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Communication & Team Collaboration
- Communicate professionally and effectively with U.S.-based Project Managers, vendors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Maintain responsiveness across email, phone, messaging platforms, and project management systems.
- Present estimating assumptions and recommendations clearly and confidently.
- Demonstrate accountability, ownership, and follow-through in all responsibilities.
Post-Award Support
- Assist with procurement planning, material sourcing, and vendor coordination after project award.
- Support change-order pricing, budget updates, and estimate clarifications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in project reviews and lessons-learned discussions to improve future estimating performance.
