Job Description for Technical Lead (Microsoft SQL Server) –8+ Years Experience

Role Summary

We are seeking a Technical Lead with 8+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration. The candidate should have deep expertise in managing complex SQL Server environments, including architecture design, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization. The role involves leading a team of database engineers, setting technical standards, and driving continuous improvement in database operations.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Mentorship:

 Lead and mentor a team of L1 and L2 engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices.

 Define and enforce operational standards for database administration, security, and performance optimization.

 Review team deliverables, provide guidance, and manage escalation handling.

Database Architecture & Administration:

 Design, configure, and manage enterprise-level SQL Server environments, focusing on SQL Server 2022.

 Lead advanced maintenance tasks, such as partitioning, failover testing, and database migration.

 Oversee the implementation of database solutions aligned with business objectives.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery:

 Architect and manage Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR strategies for critical databases.

 Ensure zero data loss through advanced backup, replication, and recovery plans.

Security & Compliance:

 Define and enforce security policies, including encryption, auditing, and access controls.

 Lead compliance initiatives to meet regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.

Performance Optimization:

 Conduct deep-dive analysis and resolution of complex query performance issues.

Documentation & Automation:

 Proficiency in query tuning, execution plan analysis, and storage optimization.
