Key Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor
- Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
- Preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders and contracts.
- Coordination of work effort.
- Advising on a range of legal and contractual issues.
- Valuing completed work and arranging for payments.
Common Tasks and Duties
- Preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect/interior designer and/or the client.
- Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
- Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
- Performing risk, value management, and cost control during project/construction.
- Providing advice on contractual claims and disputes.
- Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work, and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
