Key Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor

• Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
• Preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders and contracts.
• Coordination of work effort.
• Advising on a range of legal and contractual issues.
• Valuing completed work and arranging for payments.

Common Tasks and Duties

• Preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect/interior designer and/or the client.
• Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
• Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
• Performing risk, value management, and cost control during project/construction.
• Providing advice on contractual claims and disputes.
• Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work, and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
