Linux Infrastructure Engineer (L2/L3) –

Roles & Responsibilities

Core Infrastructure & Server Management

● Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian) in production and mission-critical environments.

● Administer and upgrade RHEL servers and OpenShift clusters ensuring minimal downtime and stability.

● Perform patching, lifecycle management, inventory tracking, and license compliance for 500+ enterprise servers (VMs and physical).

● Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system and cluster performance to meet SLA requirements.

Red Hat Satellite & Automation

● End-to-end administration of Red Hat Satellite including patch management, lifecycle environments, software channels, tracer usage, and compliance policies.

● Designed and implemented automation via Ansible (roles, playbooks, CIS scripts) for patching, user management, reporting, and hardening → reduced manual effort by ~70–80%.

● Developed Ansible-based pre/post patch verification checks, system health checks, and compliance monitoring aligned to SEBI/CIS benchmarks.

● Maintained Ansible playbooks and CIS compliance scripts for RHEL 8 & 9, continuously updated as per Red Hat advisories.

Security, Compliance & Audit Preparedness

● Enforced SEBI/CIS compliance standards (file permissions, SSH hardening, journald configs, crypto policies) across all enterprise servers.

● Automated vulnerability management and compliance audits ensuring readiness for regulatory inspections.

● Provided standardized SOPs and audit-ready documentation for Satellite patching, RHEL upgrades, and CIS benchmark enforcement.

High Availability, Clustering & DR

● Supported clustered physical servers, ensuring proper patching and node/package management for seamless availability.

● Created and maintained snapshots, DR strategies, backup automation, and failover checks using Ansible and standard tools.

● Conducted disaster recovery drills and delivered root cause analysis (RCA) for high-severity incidents.

Knowledge Leadership & SME Role

● Acted as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Red Hat Satellite and Ansible, providing technical escalation, guidance, and root-cause resolution in critical production scenarios.

● Conducted internal training sessions, knowledge transfers, and mentoring for junior engineers to improve team capability.

● Advocated process optimization, automation-first culture, and enhanced operational efficiency across the team.

Client Interfacing & Delivery

● Engaged directly with clients and stakeholders for new implementations, requirement gathering, and project delivery.

● Led initiatives for clean-room (air-gapped) Satellite implementation, SOP creation, and process optimization.

● Collaborated with cross-functional teams for infrastructure migrations, container onboarding, and hybrid cloud enablement.
