Commercial Underwriter

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our Property & Engineering underwriting team in Kolkata. The ideal candidate will have strong technical underwriting skills, a solid understanding of industrial risks, and the ability to drive profitable growth in the commercial lines portfolio.

• Underwrite Property and Engineering risks for SME commercial and industrial clients.
• Evaluate risk exposures, review proposal forms, inspection reports, and financials.
• Price and structure policies within underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with Agents, Brokers, Clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business development, claims, and reinsurance teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal underwriting standards.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach in identifying opportunities, mitigating risks, and driving portfolio growth.

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Property & Engineering Underwriting with a General Insurer.
• Strong knowledge of policy wordings, exclusions, and risk assessment.
• Minimum Graduation required; additional certifications (e.g., ACII, III) will be an added advantage.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
