About the Role

Design Confidence is seeking a Bid Manager to take full ownership of the end-to-end bid lifecycle once it has been allocated. This is a hands-on, all-rounder role for a confident bid professional with a strong, demonstrable track record of writing and winning bids.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will lead your proposals from opportunity to submission – writing compelling content, coordinating contributors, following up with clients.
  • Write, compile, edit, and own high-quality proposals, VOs, tenders, and RFP/RFQ/RFI/TQs responses end-to-end.
  • Craft persuasive, client-focused content that clearly articulates win themes and value propositions.
  • Ensure every submission is fully compliant with all requirements, criteria, and evaluation guidance.
  • Build and maintain a high-quality content library (case studies, CVs, capability statements).
  • Manage your allocated proposal from development, follow-up, to award.
  • Drive bid timelines, internal milestones, and contributor deadlines.
  • Run bid development meetings and review sessions, as necessary and especially for special Bids.
  • Monitor tender portals and opportunity sources, qualifying and recommending bids to pursue.
  • Call and follow up with clients on submissions, clarifications, and outcomes.
  • Manage client clarification questions and responses during live bids.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client and procurement contacts.
  • Complete and assist with vendor registrations and pre-qualification (PQQ) submissions across portals.
  • Assist the Bids Coordinator with keeping company documents, certifications, and compliance records current and accessible.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for bid inputs and pricing.
  • Track win/loss outcomes, analyse results, and lead lessons learned to improve future win rates.
  • Prepare management bid reports and pipeline summaries.
  • Continuously assist with improving the bid processes, templates, and tools.
  • Get involved with anything else as directed by the Head of Bids that strengthens our bid function and win performance.
Experience & Skills Required
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Bid Manager or Bid Writer, with bids you have personally written and won.
  • A demonstrable bid success rate – we ask candidates to evidence their win rate (e.g. percentage of bids won and typical contract values) and to bring examples to interview.
  • Excellent English, persuasive writing with first-class attention to detail.
  • Good English, Confident verbal communicator, comfortable leading client calls and follow-ups.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to run several bids at once to tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office and experienced with tender portals.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously under pressure and assisting others on bids.
Desirable
  • Degree-level certification
  • Experience in the construction, design, engineering, or built-environment sectors.
  • Experience with public sector and framework tendering.
  • APMP certification (Foundation, Practitioner, or Professional).
  • A portfolio or examples of successful winning bids.
  • Familiar with CRM Systems
What We Offer
  • A hands-on role with genuine ownership of your allocated bids, from opportunity to award.
  • A supportive, collaborative team
  • Knowledge-sharing training
  • The opportunity to shape and improve our bid processes and win performance.
  • Varied, high-impact work across a range of clients and sectors.
